OS (Organization Skill)

Eventually, there are many Student Activity Units/Community/Department Student Association. All of them are divided into 6 groups. However, I just joined some of them, because my schedule is kinda full.

  • HIMTI

What is HIMTI? It’s a Department Student Association only for Computer Science students. I wanted to join it, because it’s entertaining to be an activist in first year. I could learn soft skill and hard skill, get many new friends, and get more knowledge about organization.

  • BNCC

BNCC? It’s a Student Activity Units for every single student who wants to learn more and more about Computer. BNCC members would get trial class to clarify what their hiding talents, what their passions, or which learning and training class is appropriate for them. They will find what they need for campus and real life. Well, I also register to be an activist. It’s kinda tough to finish the quests. But, I don’t give up easily, because bright future is waiting for me.

  • B-Voice Radio

It’s the most cohesive Student Activity Units as the radio of campus. For sure, it’s really exciting and entertaining. I have intention to join it, but my study will be left. I need to choose, and I realize it’s not my time to play.

  • BSSC

BSSC? It’s a Community for boarders in Binus Square. I really want to join it, it will help me to get more friends and participate to solve problems together. I guarantee you’ll be satisfied and happy.

P.S. : I wonder what should I do for next, because BNCC and HIMTI are more important than BSSC for this time. Hopefully, my choice didn’t hurt anyone.

  • Associate Member

Well, it’s not a part of Student Activity Units/Community/Department Student Association. It’s a part time job. I registered for it because there are so many training about coding later. If I can pass the test, and then officially becoming an AM, I will try my best. I also need to reschedule my program for ultimate result.

AO (Academic Orientation)

Academic Orientation (AO) is pre – campus life orientation, which means every freshman should attend this class to know about what is campus in real, so they could feel the original atmosphere. It will be held for 2 weeks. Basically, we only learned about Computer Science (CS) in the Lab and the class, Curriculum in the class, Academic Advisory in the class, and Support Center for Your Success in the class. Boredom would come over you, but I guarantee you would meet another Computer Science (CS) freshmen so you didn’t need to feel unhappy.

Day by day I attended every class, I got many new knowledge about technology. The Binus lecturers are great, they taught the students patiently. They were helped by the Lab Assistants. If a student didn’t understand the subject matter, she/he might ask the Lab Assistant to define it and taught them how to coding well. I was happy to be part of it.

By the way, in the end of the lessons (last day) there will be an exam to evaluate how far we understood the subject matter. The lecturer would give you at least a half and an hour to do it. In my opinion, the test was kinda difficult for me. Because, I had never taught about coding before. I just learned it for 2 weeks, that’s why I found it so hard for me to do.

GO (General Orientation)

Today, I’m going to tell you about General Orientation (GO).

I stayed at Binus Square for FEP and English Foundation. On the 1st week, (FEP) I got a really cheerful roommate. Her name is Josephine Angela, but I prefer call her, Jose. She’s my friend at LIA and we graduated one month after the national exams. She is also a Computer Science (CS) student. On the 2nd week (English Foundation), I got a pretty roommate, her name is Dianti Puspita. She’s from Bandung, and a Visual Communication Design – Creative Advertising (VCD – CA) student. I think I’m lucky enough to get to know good people like them.

Day 1 (Mon)

Jose and I woke up at 04:30 AM, then we took shower. I did shubuh prayer and we had bread and chocolate milk as a fast breakfast. Jose, Dylan, Bintang, Agung and I went to Syahdan campus by shuttle bus. By the way, Agung is a Game Application and Technology (GAT) student, Bintang is an English Literature student, and Dylan is a Cyber Security (CSc) student. We dispersed and looked for our own FEP class. I was part of ABN03 at room L2A. On the 1st day, it’s only discussed about briefing and introducing yourselves. First, every Buddy Coordinator (BC) should introduce themselves. Then, all of us are asked for introduce ourselves and gave at least one explanation why we chose Binus and why we decided to pick our majors. They explicate us about what we have to do and wear for one week. We played some logic games, it was so fun. Some Buddy Coordinators (BCs) also shared their campus life experience. Finally, this plain day is over. Oh God, I almost forgot to tell you about my good friend. We’re in the same class for 1 semester. How lucky I am. His name is Syailendra Adianto, he’s clever and really helpful. He taught me how to learn about programming and design a website. He’s a Computer Science (CS) student too.

Day 2 (Tue)

We woke up as usual. But, I had to go to Syahdan Campus by myself because the others got noon schedule. I was so lonely and bored. Luckily, it didn’t last long. I met many acquaintances. Most of the students in my FEP class are the men, there’s only 10 girls. They are so kind and friendly, especially the girls. I found myself enjoy this class. The Buddy Coordinators (BCs) presented us Binusian Journey, in the end of the presentation we should answer some questions. Every Buddies had to collect some cash to buy many balloons for Opening Ceremony tomorrow. The rest of us might go home, but for the Boarders in Binus Square should go for Boarders Orientation. It took at least 2 hours. Finally, at 02:00 PM we could go home.

Day 3 (Wed)

I had to wake up early morning. It’s an Opening Ceremony day. All of the freshmen should come before 07:00 AM at East Parking Area, Syahdan Campus. We put all of the balloons up and precisely 07:00 AM, the ceremony is started. In the middle of the ceremony, the rector and some lecturer announced officially the FEP is started. The rector cut the string of  the balloons. After that, we prayed and then we went to the Anggrek Campus for Binus Way session. The auditorium seemed so crowded, but the elegance of the room still can be seen. This room is look like a cinema with a huge stage. The rector explained about Binus Way in detail. Few hours later we moved on to the Lab, room 631 and room 721. Our class is divided into 2 rooms, and I were at room 631. Some Buddy Coordinators (BCs) taught us how to logged in, checked and used Binusmaya. It finished at 05:00 PM.

P.S. : Only the batch 1 who attended the Opening Ceremony.

Day 4 (Thurs)

I took the shuttle bus at 09:00 AM, because ABN03 should make a plan for the yell yell. Well, one of my classmate found the match song and the right lyrics. The song is sung by Cherry Belle, Love You. But, we still had no idea for the gestures. That’s why we needed to share our thoughts in early morning. Even though, Bunga Rampai will be started at 11:20 AM in auditorium. I thought my classmate is really talented in art, he has crazy idea for the gestures. I bet it would work well. After that, we entered the auditorium and saw so many incredible things from various Student Activity Units/Community/Department Student Association. My friends and I were planning to join BNCC and HIMTI. Many friends of mine asked me to join the others, which one they chose. But, I prefer to decide it by myself. Then, we went to the room 403. We ought to answer the UNIQ LO questioner, it was entertaining and lively. Every freshman is unique, and some of them are on the list. Including me, I was nominated as an amateur writer. After all tiring day, actually we might go home. But because of the yell ell, we had to stay for a while and practiced a lot. Lack of time made us moved to Binus Square (BS). One of our Buddy Coordinator (BC) is an old boarder. He knew the right place to dance and sing, where anybody else only could catch a glimpse.

Day 5 (Fri)

Today is the last session of Binus Square (BS) orientation for the Boarders. I took the the shuttle bus to Anggrek Campus accurately an hour before 08:00 AM. Entering the room 401, I could see some new boarders like me. We divided into 4 teams, there are some categories like fashion, travel, technology, and photography. I was in photography with Jose and Nabila. We arranged a presentation about it and then I present the result in front the class. The others also did the same things. Later, we moved to the spirituality room. These classes is split based on what kind of religions the freshmen had (Muslim, Protestant, Catholic, Buddhist, Hindu). I’m a Muslim, so I had to do the zuhr prayer. I met new acquaintances again in same religion, and we talked a lot about High School. After this religious session, we come in to the room 403. Knowing about Binus rules and how to be success made my eyes opened widely. This is my chance to change forever to save my future. The end of the day, few freshmen and some Buddy Coordinators (BCs) of ABN03 created some cute and lovely properties for tomorrow, the Togetherness Day.

Day 6 // Expo Day // Togetherness Day (Sat)

Expo Day finally has come. The last day seeing our Buddy Coordinators (BCs) didn’t mean we couldn’t see them around the campus soon. On this day, we performed our yell yell and danced a lot in the field. We also had to make a decision which Student Activity Units/Community/Department Student Association we wanted to get involved. We should pay for register in some Student Activity Units, however we might register for free if we could win the challenge. I made a decision to join BNCC (Bina Nusantara Computer Club), HIMTI (as an activist), and BSSC (Binus Square Student Committee). In the end of the day, ABN03 took many pictures together with our Buddy Coordinators (BCs).

What’s FEP?

Hey guys, howdy? I bet you’re good enough right now. First, let me introduce myself. My name’s Luthfia Fitriani, in short you may call me Fia or Fay (that’s all up to you). I’ve decided to continue my study at Binus University (Kemanggisan). So, I’m a Binusian 2019. As a computer science student is not easy to learn more about Calculus, Algorithm, Coding, and many other things.

Before Binusian 2019 start their real college life, they must do the FEP (Freshmen Enrichment Program) and hopefully they can get 100 SAT point (max for FEP). What is FEP? Basically, we can call FEP as a welcoming event for new Binusian. FEP is an orientation program for the new student, and it also helps them to get ready for the education system at Binus as well as possible.

FEP is divided into 3 parts, there are General Orientation (GO), Academic Orientation (AO) and Campus Life Orientation (CLO). GO : You (Buddy) will meet your Buddy Coordinator (BC), decide and join some Student Activity Units/Community/Department Student Association as much as we want, take the English Foundation Class if your TOEFL score less than 457 and come to the Convocation Ceremony at JCC. AO (Pre-Campus Life Orientation) : You will learn more deeply about your own majors, do some tasks , and do some tests after finishing your AO on the last day. CLO : You will do your campus life, and get some help from your BC during the 1st semester.

P. S. : If you’re a SoCS student you have to make a blog and share your experience during the FEP.

During the FEP, you should wear short/long white shirt (long white shirt is permitted only for hijabers), black pants, and black/white shoes/flat shoes. No wakai/crocs. Unless the 1st day, you may wear the free clothes. On the Convocation day, you have to wear short/long white shirt (long white shirt is permitted only for hijabers), black pants, and black/white shoes/flat shoes.
